I’m excited to announce the premiere of the Felonious Florida Podcast! This new true-crime audio series, brought to us by Wondery and The Sun Sentinel, will begin April 3rd. The first season will feature the Casey’s Nickelodeon Murders and the Boca Raton Mall Murders. Across six narrative-style pieces veteran reporters who covered the stories as they unfolded will lead you through the evidence. I subscribe to and enjoy other Wondery shows, such as Real Crime Profile. Their productions are the gold standard in podcasting, so I’m looking forward to hearing their take on Florida! The tagline has me so curious – “Beyond the beaches, beyond the theme parks, the palm trees, and the warm breezes lies the dark side of the Sunshine State.” I need to know more!
I find crime stories to be intriguing and mysterious, especially when the killers might still be walking amongst us, as in the unsolved Boca murders. There are also questions in some corners of the globe as to whether the right man is in jail for the Casey’s incident, or not. According to some, those killers are freely roaming the state as we speak. Should we all be looking over our shoulders? I don’t know, but I’d like more info, just in case. I love to learn about the history and events that took place around me, that includes things that aren’t necessarily pleasant. Florida crime documentaries tend to highlight our more well-known citizens and visitors, like Ted Bundy, Andrew Cunanan, or Aileen Wuornos. The cases covered in series one of Felonious Florida are new to me, so I can’t wait to start exploring them.
