There are so many exciting events that take place all over the state of Florida on a daily basis that it is hard to keep track. I’ve created this events calendar to make note of some that I took an interest in and thought my readers might enjoy as well. If there is an event that you feel should be included, please message me the details via the Contact page. If we like your event, it will be added! Gasparilla Pirate Festival 11:00 am
Gasparilla Pirate Festival
Jan 27 @ 11:00 am – Jan 28 @ 12:00 am
The Gasparilla Pirate Festival is a large parade and a host of related community events celebrated almost every year since 1904 in Tampa, Florida. It is held in late January and hosted by Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla and the City of Tampa, and it celebrates the apocryphal legend of José Gaspar (also known as Gasparilla), a mythical Spanish pirate who supposedly operated in Southwest Florida in the early 1800s. This is an adult-oriented parade whose route runs alongside beautiful Bayshore Boulevard and then into downtown where the pirates ceremoniously overtake City Hall from the Mayor much like it’s written in Tampa history folklore. Do NOT bring small children to this parade. There IS a children’s parade the Saturday prior to the “Invasion” parade suited for them with beads and fun for families and their tots.
